This is the elementary massage course which includes all you need to become a confident qualified massage therapist. On completion, you will be qualified to work in a health centre, clinic or at home.

The course spans 9 months and includes 11 weekends (22 days) combined with many activities between sessions.

How we teach?
First, we strongly recommend you read what is special about Bodyology.
In every session we combine teaching theory and practice to enhance the learning experience.
The experience of learning in this way is so rich that retaining knowledge is easy.
For that reason we strongly recommend studying the theory and practice on the same course.

Every effort is made to create a fun and interactive course.
Besides the weekend sessions, we offer plenty of activities to enhance your study experience using tutors’ support and the student zone.

Topics covered:

• Anatomy, physiology and pathology of the following systems: skeletal, muscular, joint, skin, cardio-vascular, lymphatic, immune, nervous, digestion, endocrine, respiratory and genitor-urinary.

• The benefits of massage strokes

• How to combine massage techniques and strokes into a treatment

• Managing massage sessions: consultation, creating a treatment plan.

• Contraindications to massage

• How to identify specific needs to improve client health.

• Exercises and other after-care advice.

• Other healthcare professions

• Business management: insurance, book keeping and record keeping.

• Ethics: confidentiality, boundaries and the client-therapist relationship.

• Hygiene

• Stress management

• Setting up a practice: Marketing and business laws

• First aid

• Listening and communication skills

Course work

• You will need to perform at least 50 hours of massage outside the sessions and to complete a journal that records this.

• You will have to do some home-study supported by our tutors and Bodyology Student Zone.

Exams
The course is accredited by the Massage Training Institute (MTI).

• Study is combined with ongoing tests to monitor your personal progress leaving no room for surprises in the exam.

• The final exam includes theory and practical exams.
