Which accredited body gives the certification?
This is one of the questions we have investigated for a long time before making a decision. As we have taught both MTI and ITEC courses, we were clear about choosing MTI for the following reasons:
MTI's approach to massage is extremely professional. The MTI syllabus is directed to what we think is important in massage; The MTI emphasis is NOT teaching a massage routine, but tailoring treatments to each client’s need.
MTI anatomy and physiology books are better – but don’t take our word for it! Have a look at the ratings on amazon.co.uk for the MTI book and ITEC book for the diploma massage course.
Some students take an ITEC course as they assume it would be recognised internationally, but the list of countries you can practice with ITEC and MTI diploma is similar!
Why choose Bodyology as your school?
For full details about Bodyology go to what is special about Bodyology. We believe that studying is best done socially - interacting, talking, explaining what you learn with other students, qualified therapists, and tutors. You will still have lectures, but we use a variety of other learning methods too.
We teach body-knowledge, not ‘routine strokes’. We teach how to ‘think massage’ rather than follow easy orders that might be simple to learn but not appropriate treating clients with different needs. We emphasise on developing your marketing, communication and personal skills to inspire your clients to achieve better health.
Why do we teach massage, anatomy and physiology together?
We believe that practical massage and theory must be learned together, like vocabulary and grammar! We don’t teach just any anatomy and physiology- we teach anatomy and physiology specifically for massage therapists.
Which type of massage course should I take?
To build a solid foundation in body therapy the best course is the massage diploma course. If you are a qualified therapist look at the courses page to choose one that you need.
What equipment would I need for the course?
There are a few study books that you will need to purchase. You will also need a massage table, but do not purchase one before starting the Diploma Course. We will help you choose the right one for you, at the best price.
What if I have not studied for a long time?
You do not need any prior knowledge to study with us. The main predictor of exam success is your commitment to the course and not your prior knowledge.
We will help you to organise your study, supply you with a student folder, give you Ripple study aids and an open telephone line for you to call us if you have any question.
What sort of people will be on the course?
Our courses attract students from all walks of life. We encourage interaction between our students in a supportive way as studying is done best when you feel comfortable.
What sort of work can I expect after graduating?
There are a few possibilities. Most people start by working part-time either self- employed or employed in a spa or gym. It can take some time to build up a full clientele but it depends on your motivation.
How difficult is the course?
It really depends on what you want to achieve. Almost all of our students pass the exams with good grades.
Most of our students are working, have families and/or other commitments. However, it is important to keep up with the work and you will need about an hour for studying most days. And importantly - you need to give AT LEAST one massage a week.
